Developer Chuck Akerlow is pursuing a data center as part of a larger development near Burmester Road and I-80 at the south end of the Great Salt Lake; the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) lists the Tooele Valley project area at 584 acres, while the advocacy group UPHE describes a 1,200-acre industrial development. The Salt Lake Tribune describes a 500-megawatt data center in the plan, along with a truck stop. The Tooele Valley Public Infrastructure District has sought a state permit to discharge up to 260,000 gallons per day of reverse-osmosis brine toward the lake.
