How to describe the Census
Data Center Census is an independent, sourced record of major U.S. data center projects: where they are, who is building them, what they will use, and what local governments and courts have decided. Every figure on the site links to the filing, notice or report it came from.
Short version for a sentence of attribution: “Data Center Census, an independent tracker of U.S. data center projects.”
What it is not
It is not a count of every data center in the country. It covers major projects that have been researched and sourced, not smaller colocation or enterprise facilities, and announced figures are promises by developers rather than verified outcomes. The methodology page sets out what is included, how status is assigned and how corrections are handled.
