Some listings are sold only in full instances (the configuration column shows GPUs per instance); the calculator does not round your GPU count up to an instance size. Regions, storage, networking, egress and commitments are not priced.
Buy versus rent breakeven
Type in a purchase price you have been quoted. The Census lists no purchase prices, so nothing is filled in. The rental rate defaults to the lowest fresh on-demand listing for the GPU above and can be changed.
Enter a purchase price to see the breakeven.
Breakeven hours = purchase price ÷ (rental rate − running cost). It ignores resale value, financing, hosting, networking, utilization and the cost of the rest of the server.
GPU rental cost calculator: common questions
How is the rental cost calculated?
GPUs times hours times the provider’s listed price per GPU-hour. Per-instance prices are divided by the GPUs in the instance first.
Why are some providers missing from my results?
Only listings checked in the last 7 days are used by default, and only for the GPU and pricing type you choose. Tick the stale box to include older listings.
What does the breakeven show?
The number of rental hours at which renting costs as much as buying, using the purchase price you type in and the rental rate you choose. The Census does not supply a purchase price.
