About
About the Data Center Census
An independent, neutral public record of the data center build-out in the United States.
Data centers are being proposed in towns that have never hosted one, at a scale measured in gigawatts. The facts people need (how big, how much water, who’s behind it, when the vote is) are scattered across county PDFs, utility dockets and local news. The Census puts them in one place, with a source for every number.
We serve residents, local officials, reporters, landowners, investors and the industry alike. We don’t take sides on whether any project should be built.
Who publishes the Census
Data Center Census is published by AI Laws By State LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. See the terms of use and privacy policy.
Independence
The Census is not affiliated with any developer, tenant, utility, advocacy group or government body. Sponsorships exist, are clearly labeled and never affect the record; see Sponsorship below.
Sponsorship
The Census accepts paid sponsorships so the data can stay free and open. A sponsorship buys one thing: a labeled placement on a tool page, currently the GPU price pages. The card says “Sponsored”, names the sponsor and links to its site, and sits apart from the data.
What cannot be sponsored: a company’s inclusion in the Census or in a price table, any data point, price, ranking or sort order, any project record, and any editorial text. A sponsor does not get a better position, a different description or a faster correction than anyone else.
Labeling: every sponsored placement is marked “Sponsored”, with a note that sponsors pay for it and that it does not affect which providers we list, their prices or their order. While a sponsor is also listed in a price table, its rows carry a small muted “Sponsor” tag, and are listed under the same rule as every other provider. Sponsor links are marked rel="sponsored". Sponsors run no scripts, pixels or cookies on the site, and sponsorships are left out of the data downloads, feeds, embeds and structured data.
Editorial independence: sponsors never review or approve content before or after it is published.

Corrections and tips
Use the contact form or email corrections@datacentercensus.com. Please include a link to a public document or report. Developers and officials are welcome to send updates. We publish sourced facts rather than unsourced statements, but when a named company or official publicly disputes something in a record, we note the dispute and link to their response.
