County card (177 counties)
Tracked projects with status and capacity, total planned capacity (with a count of projects that publish none), local moratorium and pause actions with their status, the next hearing or vote on record, and the latest dated change. Sized for an article column.
Project scale card (105 projects)
A project’s planned capacity and daily water use in household terms, with the method on the card: electricity at 100% of planned capacity all year, divided by the EIA’s average home use; water divided by EPA’s family figure.
Hearing countdown (20 projects, 38 state lists)
The body, date, time and place if recorded, days remaining, and a link to the agenda or notice. After the date it shows the result if the record has one, and “Date passed - outcome not yet on record” if not. State lists show every upcoming hearing in a state.
Project cards, state trackers and animations
170 project cards and 36 state trackers, plus the latest-changes feed, the AI data center count and the animated timelapse, skyline, meter and company race. Search above, or see all tools.
Questions about embeds
How do I embed a data center county card or project card in an article?
Search for a county, project or state on this page, copy the embed code and paste it into the HTML block of your content system. Or paste the page URL of any county, project or state page into WordPress or another oEmbed-enabled editor and it turns into the embed. A still PNG of every card is available for newsletters, social posts and print.
Do the embeds update on their own?
Yes. Every embed is regenerated each time the Census is updated, so a new project, vote, hearing or moratorium appears in embeds you have already published, with no action on your part. Hearing countdowns refresh from the date every time the embed loads and switch to the result once the record has one.
How do I credit the data?
Keep the credit line inside the embed visible: “Data: Data Center Census” with its “as of” date, which links to the full page. The embeds and data are free to use under CC BY 4.0. The PNG cards carry the same credit line and date.
What does an embed show when the record has no figure?
It says so plainly, for example “No upcoming hearing on record” or “Not published in the record”. Nothing is estimated or filled in, and each figure links to the source it came from.

Every embed address is predictable, and each has a PNG at /card.png and an oEmbed description under /oembed.
